*Note* I’ve spent another season selecting for true greasy pods and pink tips, so those seeds are now available as an improved variant to try! This bean has pods with some of the richest flavor I’ve ever tasted. It is medium-late in maturity with extra large vines but bears an abundance. Pods are about 5.5 inches long and not all are greasy or have pink tips despite the name, but all have the same amazingly rich flavor and tender texture when cooked long and slow after removing strings. It’s surprising how many bean varieties differ from their original intended appearance. I’ve found that under organic conditions, bees and butterflies cross-pollinate them quite frequently, so the seed-saver must be continually watchful to save seeds from true-to-type plants. Hence, this is why it takes me a few years to bring varieties back to their fullest potential! This variety is originally from Haywood County, NC. 71-80 days from sowing to harvest. Seeds produced in Morgantown, WV. Germination 80 % 11-4-2024. 30 seeds (sows 10 ft row)
