Lazy Wife Greasy Bean (30 Seeds)

This bean is outstanding among the greasy-type beans for bearing clusters of extremely plump pods and large seeds. Pods are quite short, 4-5 inches, but the fat seeds give them a wonderful meaty texture. They are all very shiny and perfectly tender once strings are removed and they are simmered for 30 minutes in the traditional cooking style. This is a later variety and pods should be picked when seeds are very lumpy. Vines are vigorous and should be trellised.This is another variety that I found to be contaminated with tough pods, and I’ve spent two seasons re-selecting for tender pods. But now it is a wonderful variety with exceptional quality. This variety originated from Madison County, in the mountains of western NC. I believe it should not be confused with ‘Lazy Housewife’, which is one of the first stringless beans, but is neither greasy nor meaty.85 days from sowing to harvest.
