Cades Cove Stick Bean Heirloom Seeds

If you’ve ever visited the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, you may have seen the idyllic Cades Cove, an historic valley settlement nettled between striking mountains. Such was the birthplace of this wonderful heritage bean variety that serves up tasty nutrition on a convenient vine.This is a greasy cut-short variety bearing 4-inch pods and speckled brown seeds. Vines are compact like a half-runner, growing to 5 ft. It was traditionally supported by sticks, but a trellis or teepee will give best results. Pods are extremely abundant and mature uniformly, ideal for picking a large crop for canning or drying for leather britches. Seems to have good resistance to Mexican bean beetle. This variety is quite similar to ‘Small Speckled Greasy Cutshort’ but is earlier with smaller vines. Originally from Dorthy Sharp.75 days from sowing to harvest. Seeds produced in Morgantown, WV.
