    Caulescent plants, 0.6-1.8 m high, drying annually until only the rhizome remains. Basal leaves 3-7 and 1-2 cauline, blades 24-90 cm long and 8-35 cm wide, acuminate apex, green with yellow-green feather-like designs along the main vein and pale gray-green on the underside and occasionally with 2 longitudinal purple bands; pulvinule glabrous except for a row of trichomes on the upper surface, olive-green, petiole glabrous, green, often absent, sheath tomentose apically, green or streaked with purple. The inflorescences ovoid to ellipsoid, 4-10 cm long and 2.5-5 cm wide, bracts (5-) 7-41, persistent, erect, often tomentose on the external surface, glabrous or subglabrous at the apex in the internal, clear green, closed flowers; sepals 18-28 mm long, creamy-white; cream corolla a golden, tube 23-29 mm long. Capsules obovoid, rounded, slightly yellowish cream, persistent sepals; Gray seeds. Reproduction is carried out vegetatively using rhizomes, which produce an average of 20 shoots each.
