Other: Red Rubin Basil is known for its spicier flavor compared to sweet basils. The densely colored 3-inch leaves are aromatic, smooth, and flat, resembling Italian Basil. These compact plants offer a high yield of leaves without requiring much space. Red Rubin is ornamental and enhances any garden setting, whether it be a vegetable, herb, or flower garden, and is suitable for container gardening. As a “cut and come again” plant, fresh leaves can be continually harvested throughout the growing season. Begin harvesting when the plant has at least 8 leaves, leaving the lowest pair intact to promote further growth. The leaves are best used fresh to enhance the color of salads or pesto, but also add flavor to various dishes such as pasta, vegetables, fish, and chicken, when cooked. At season’s end, the entire plant can be harvested with the option to dry or freeze the leaves for later use.

100% of seeds sprouted, and now I have a ton of baby basil plants. Excited to have a pile of basil this summer.

Doing great along with the other basils I purchased. This is slightly different from the dark opal with more green and slightly rounder leaves.
