North Carolina Long Greasy Bean (30 Seeds)

*Please note* Due to vole damage this season, I have a limited quantity of this bean, so get them while you can!This is one of the best “greasy beans” with very lumpy pods. Pods lack the typical slight fuzziness of modern beans and so appear slick and greasy. Greasy beans are highly prized in the mountains of western North Carolina and are considered to have the best flavor and texture of any bean. Vines are moderately vigorous, requiring a trellis, and bear 6 in. pods from late summer until frost. Not the highest yielding variety but the exceptional quality is worth it. Pick pods after seeds swell inside but before they turn yellow. De-string and cook slow. Absolutely delicious and beautiful. 70-75 days from sowing to picking. Seeds produced in Morgantown, WV from seedstock originally obtained from the Sustainable Mountain Agriculture Center in eastern Kentucky. Germination 80% 11-30-2024. 30 seeds (sows 10 ft row)
