This is a reliable, open-pollinated pickling cucumber with good disease resistance. Vines produce an abundance of blocky fruits perfect for pickling. Suitable for growing in containers if kept well-watered. I found this variety to yield well under my mid-Atlantic conditions. For best results, in areas like mine with high populations of cucumber beetles, cover the plot with floating row cover after sowing to protect the plants from bacterial wilt, which is spread by the beetles. After 3-4 weeks or whenever flowering begins, you can remove the covers to allow bees to pollinate. A trellis is optional but can help reduce foliar diseases by providing better airflow. Pick fruits frequently for maximum yields. This variety was developed in 1973 at Clemson University in South Carolina and plants demonstrate resistance to powdery mildew, downy mildew, angular leaf spot, anthracnose, scab, and cucumber mosaic virus. 50-55 days from sowing to harvest. Seed produced in Morgantown, WV. Germination 99% 12-25-23.
