This is one of the best open-pollinated zucchinis available and the only one with resistance to powdery mildew. Developed by Sativa Seeds in Rheinau, Switzerland for organic growing conditions. Leaves have beautiful lighter green mottling and plants are single-stemmed and more open yet compact compared to old varieties like ‘Black Beauty’. Fruits are straight, glossy, and dark-green. I’ve grown and loved this variety for several years but discovered that saving seeds is a little tricky as many fruits split and rot in my humid climate as seeds approach maturity – well after any self-respecting fruit has passed the edible stage! 42 days from seed to harvest.
