This is a collard that looks like kale! Tender light-green leaves with toothed margins grow on large plants with good cold-hardiness. Collards can be started in early spring or early fall and require a good supply of nutrients and water to make lots of leaves. Summer plants are best covered with floating row cover to exclude pests, especially if harlequin bugs are in your area. This variety originated in North Carolina and was a treasured heirloom variety of the Cox family. These seeds came from plants in Morgantown, WV that survived winter cold with just a light low tunnel cover. Germination 99% 8/29/2023. Approximately 300 seeds (1 g)
