Other: Saltwort is a gourmet heirloom Japanese vegetable with long, green, juicy succulent leaves. It is appreciated for its crunchy texture even after cooking and is used in sushi, stir-fries, salads, as a side dish, and for flavoring meat and fish. Rich in vitamins and minerals, baby leaves can be harvested as early as 2 weeks and continue until the plant flowers. Although native to salt marshes and excellent in coastal conditions, Saltwort thrives without additional salt, adapting well to normal garden conditions and even poor soil or container environments.

I attempted to germinate these seeds several ways; using both the seller’s instructions and recommendations from growers online. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a single seed germinate, in spite of following instructions explicitly. From what I’ve read, these seeds have a short shelf life, so I suspect that they may have been old or improperly stored. None of the other seeds I purchased from this shop have germinated either, though the others I purchased do require cold stratification and germinate slowly and irregularly, so I’m reserving judgement on those until they germinate or it’s clear that they’re not going to.

No germination but other seeds that came with my order did excellent so I’m going to try again (and maybe try different methods) and might edit my review if the second batch grows.
