Other information:
Mulato Isleno is an heirloom Mexican poblano or ancho type pepper. They are called ‘poblano’ when fresh and ‘ancho’ when dried. The peppers measure 4 – 6” long by 3″ wide and are tapered. They are mildly hot with an SHU (Scoville Heat Units) rating of 1,000 to 2,000. The peppers have beautiful coloration, starting out glossy green and changing to a lovely chocolate brown. Mulato Isleno is sweeter than other anchos and is very popular in Mexican and Southwestern dishes, mole sauces, and much more.
