Other: Cayenne Peppers are a hot chili pepper named after the city of Cayenne in French Guiana, South America. The peppers start out green and mature to red. They typically have a bit of a curl, and measure 5 – 6″ long and about a 1/2″ across. Cayenne Peppers are hot, with a Scoville Heat Units (SHU) rating of 30,000 to 50,000. Cayenne Peppers are most commonly used dried and ground as the spice cayenne pepper but can also be used fresh in salsa, roasted, or in any other way you’d prefer. The peppers store well and can also be frozen. The plants are quite prolific, and their compact size makes them great for containers.
