Other: The Purple Smoke Tree, an upright shrub to small tree native to Europe & Asia, is highly ornamental with a long bloom period. It features large, dense 6 – 12” flower clusters that transition in color from yellow to pinkish-purple throughout the summer, resembling clouds of smoke. The leaves, glossy bluish-green in summer, undergo a vibrant transformation in the fall to shades of orange, peach, yellow, red, and purple. This tree grows at a medium rate of about 1 – 2′ per year and can adapt to various challenging conditions including clay, sandy, rocky, or shallow soils, as well as drought.
