Other: The Lotus is an aquatic plant with roots that grow under water. The plant features large lily pad type leaves and flowers that float on top. The huge leaves can reach up to 2’ wide, and are adorned with fragrant flowers that are 8 – 12” in size. After blooming, the flowers develop into ornamental seed pods which are preferred for use in dried arrangements or potpourris. These large-seeded nelumbo species seeds average 18mm in length. Lotus plants can be naturalized in large bodies of water, or grown in containers in smaller ponds or fountains to prevent spreading.
