Other: Mother of Thyme is an evergreen flowering herb native to Europe. It is grown both as an edible and as an ornamental. The plants are delightfully fragrant, and its leaves contain essential oils that are used in both fragrances and medicinally.
Thymus Pulegioides is similar to Thymus serpyllum (creeping thyme) but Mother of Thyme plants are larger with wider leaves and all of its stems produce flowers. Mother of Thyme plants tolerate some light foot traffic and have a somewhat creeping and mat-forming habit, making them an excellent ground cover. Plant them along walkways, between stepping stones, as a bed border, in a rock garden, fairy garden, or in containers. These plants are drought resistant, deer and rabbit resistant, and can grow in soil that is sandy or rocky without stress.
This Thyme has an early bloom time, and bees and butterflies will be attracted to the tons of flowers that are high in nectar.
Harvest the leaves of your Thyme to use fresh or dried, raw or cooked in any of a zillion recipes that include it as a seasoning for meats, fish, veggies, soups, and much more.
