Other: The Alpine Penstemon is an evergreen ground cover native to alpine & sub-alpine areas of the Western US & Canada. They are very drought tolerant, and can grow in rocky or sandy soil. They make great rock garden plants, and look fantastic trailing over rock walls or spilling out of containers. The lush, succulent foliage is both rabbit & deer resistant. The 1 – 1 1/2 inch long tubular flowers are large for a plant this size, and are very showy on top of the low growing foliage. The blooms can be so dense that the plant appears as a pile of flowers. The lavender purple flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
