This very early variety grows on dwarf plants that are compact and bushy and do not need to be staked. Sugar Ann is an excellent choice for containers. It was bred for this purpose so performs very well, and its compact habit makes it ideal. Plants offer a high yield of 2 1/2 inch pods that contain an average of 7 peas per pod. Peas like cool weather, and can be spring or fall sown. They have beautiful flowers, and are a legume, so can help fix the nitrogen levels of the soil to make it more fertile.
