About this item:
Blue Grama is a warm-season grass native to the plains and prairies of North America. It is very tolerant of varying conditions and can grow in climates ranging from desert to alpine. It thrives in sandy or heavy clay soils and is drought-resistant. Blue Grama can be used for erosion control due to its clumping habit, making it suitable as an accent plant in beds, rock gardens, or containers, and as a border plant. It serves well as ground cover for naturalizing or for grazing, and is commonly used as a turfgrass or mowed lawn grass. During summer, butterflies, particularly Skipper butterflies, are attracted to its flowers. It features appealing fall colors – golden brown, with hints of orange, red, and purple. The ornamental flowering seed heads also make excellent dried flowers for arrangements. Additionally, birds and small animals enjoy the seeds in the fall.
