About this item:
The Staghorn Sumac is an ornamental shrub or small tree native to Eastern North America. It is recognized for its dense, fuzzy rust-colored hairs that cover the leaf stalks, stems, and forking branches, resembling antlers of a stag. This plant features large, upright flower clusters approximately 8″ long, attracting bees and butterflies. In fall, the flowers yield fuzzy, hairy red berries, persisting through winter and providing visual interest. These berries are a favorite of birds and small animals, yet there is usually a plentiful supply. Staghorn Sumacs are dioecious, requiring both male and female plants for pollination. Their large, ferny 24″ long leaves display vibrant yellow, orange, and red hues in autumn. With its resistance to deer and rabbits, along with its ability to adapt to various challenging soil conditions including dry, sandy, heavy, shallow, or rocky soils, this plant is ideal for erosion control.

Arrived fast. Looks good. Sent the seeds I wanted as the free gift. I can’t judge viability, yet as it will be awhile before I plant…must cold stratify. Highly recommend
